Aid Called an Insult to Punjab Tensions in Punjab politics rose on Monday
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister sharply criticized the central government’s flood relief aid.He said the Prime Minister’s announcement of ₹1,600 crore for Punjab’s flood damage was “too little” and an insult to the people of Punjab.” The minister pointed out that Punjab has suffered huge losses in recent months due to heavy rains and floods.Large stretches of farmland were destroyed, houses collapsed and many families are still struggling for basic needs. He argued that the total losses are worth several thousand crores, which makes ₹1,600 crore far from enough to rebuild lives and public infrastructure. The AAP leader also stressed that farmers have been the worst hit. Many lost crops worth lakhs, while cattle and livestock also died.He Demanded a much bigger relief package to help farmers, Rebuild villages, and repair damaged roads, schools and hospitals. His remarks have triggered a political debate in the state.Opposition party accused the AAP of doing politics But AAP leaders said they were only raising genuine concerns of Punjabi. The minister Also appealed to all political parties in Punjab to come together and press the central Government for fair compensation.
